ZOUSTAR FILLY SCORES SOLID METRO MAIDEN WIN

The Danny O'Brien-Damien Oliver combination was at it again at Wednesday's Ballarat metropolitan class meeting, when Zoustar filly Atame ran her rivals ragged in the 1600m three-year-old maiden event.

The Champion hoop made every post a winner and pinched what was a winning break on the field as he crept to a five -length lead entering the straight.

"We hadn't going too fast and she likes to build her momentum , so coming to the turn I decided to get her going  and have her winding up and she did a good job to keep going to hold them off," Oliver said.

"She is still learning and I think out to the mile and with blinkers all helped  and as a filly that is going to get out over further she stays on pretty well."

The win was Oliver's seventh for O'Brien this season from 26 rides (a strike rate of 26.9%), of which six have been metropoitian class races.

"(Our combination) is going well. Danny is training them well, and placing them well so it's good to keep the strong strike rate going."

Oliver is closing in on his 100th winner for O'Brien with his tally reaching 96 after today's win.
