TRIPLE TREAT FOR IN-FORM COMBO

Serengeti and Ben Melham made it a hat-trick of wins together on Saturday at Pakenham with a well-timed run to score over 1600m.

After leading to win his past two, Melham elected to ride Serengeti just behind the speed before coming with one run and he judged his ride to perfection as the four-year-old reached the front in the shadows of the post.

"It was a really good win of a horse that is in super form," Melham said.

"There was a bit more speed on paper than in his recent races, so it was our plan to ride him a little bit quieter today, but when he got into the clear he was really ambitious and knuckled down strongly to put the race away.

"He is in a really good space and I can't see why he can't go on with it."
