Toffee filly shows class in win

Emerging filly Toffee Nose highlighted her class taking out her maiden win at Pakenham on Thursday night.

The Champions Thoroughbreds-owned quality staying prospect was settled on the rail midfield by jockey Damian Lane before pushing into the clear in the straight and the Toorak Toff filly showed great fight to reel in the leaders for the victory.

"I am thrilled with the performance as she will be at her best over further and she came into this race with plenty of improvement on her side as well," trainer Danny O'Brien said.

Three-year-old holds a nomination for the ATC Oaks and O'Brien said her fourth placing in the Group 2 Wakeful Stakes on Derby Day at just her fourth race start shows she may measure up to better races.

"We were confident she had returned a more rounded, mature filly and she deserves her chance at the better races. She showed a glimpse of her potential with the Wakeful run on what was her first preparaton. The sky's the limit for her," O'Brien said.

The Rosemont Stud-bred filly picked up $22,150 for the win thanks to a Super Vobis bonus.
