SWIFT MISS FIRES FRESH
Trainer Danny O'Brien had three-year-old filly Miss Swift ready to fire first-up at Geelong on Wednesday and she didn't let her loyal Swifties down with her determined performance.
The daughter of Almanzor was having her first start since mid-December, and she was able to produce her second win from her eighth career start.
"She is a filly that has taken time, but she has come back in super shape and that was pleasing to get the result over 1100m with her today as her maiden win came over 1457m so we know she will appreciate stepping up in trip later this campaign," O'Brien said.
Jockey Blake Shinn was very positive from the gates and dominated the race from outside the leader before taking over the running in the straight.
"She began really well and travelled like the winner, however she was challenged in the final 100m. But to her, Danny and his team's credit thet he had her fit and she was able to dig in and defy the challenge," Shinn said following the Race 4 win that was already his third victory of the meeting.
O'Brien said the aim for the filly was to have a crack at winning a city race this preparation following the strong first-up performance.
