SUPERSTORM FIRST NOMINATed FOR ALL-STAR MILE

Bob Peters has chosen to keep Cantala Stakes winner Superstorm in Victoria, where he will remain with Danny O'Brien for an All-Star Mile preparation.

Superstorm has had six runs for O'Brien, which included that Group 1 success and also victory in the G2 Feehan Stakes, while he was also placed twice at the elite level.

Peters was the first to nominate for the All-Star Mile when they opened on Tuesday with the $5m race on March 19 a logical option for the Group 1 mile winner at Flemington.

The familiar cerise and white have already tasted All-Star Mile success with Regal Power in 2020 who defeated Superstorm in second placing.

“We were lucky enough to quinella the All-Star Mile in 2020 and it was very exciting, even though I couldn’t be there in person to watch it, and we hope to be trackside next year,” Peters said.

“If Superstorm is lucky enough to be voted in he will be in with a strong chance to win as he runs his best races at Flemington.

“He’s had a good break in Melbourne and is ready to get back into it, with the All-Star Mile our ultimate aim.

“The All-Star Mile is a great concept and is an obvious race to aim at with the significant prizemoney on offer.”

Superstorm will be one of two horses O'Brien trains for Peters next year, with Inspirational Girl having arrived back in Victoria.

O'Brien had been preparing her for a spring campaign but she finished fifth in her only appearance in the Memsie Stakes before returning home to Western Australia to spell due to a temperature spike.

Nominations for the fourth edition of the All-Star Mile opened on Tuesday and will close on 10 January 2022, with RV again pledging to donate the $500 entry fee for each horse to the Good Friday Appeal.
