Step up in trip sees De' Majico home

A step up to 1900m has been the catalyst behind De' Majico breaking through for his maiden victory at Geelong on Friday.

Having been placed twice in her first seven starts, the four-year-old relished the increase trip to get on the board as a winner for her patient connections.

Jockey Ben Thompson had the daughter of Desert King three-wide with cover during the race before giving her clear air to chase hard upon straightening.

"She really find the line well even though I dropped my whip with 100m to go. But luckily she was at top speed and managed to reel in the leader," a relieved Thompson said.
