SOVEREIGN REIGNS SUPREME AT SALE

Sovereign Award took her record to four wins form 10 starts with a commanding performance first-up at Sale on Thursday.

In an astute pieve of placement by trainer Danny O'Brien, the daughter of Shamus Award carried the most weight with 61.5kgs, but she proved she was a class above in the BM70 Fillies and Mares event over 1400m.

Settling just off the speed, jockey Damien Oliver angled to the inside roudning the turn and the four-year-old proved far too strong for her rivals.

"It was a good effort as she was a bit further back than I expected, but the pace was quite strong and it was good to see that she settled today," Oliver said post race.

"She hit the line strong for a comfortable win and she will be even better at 1600m second-up."
