SOMERSET BRINGS UP HAT-TRICK

Galileo six-year-old Somerset Maugham is building quite the profile since joining trainer Danny O’Brien’s yard after he made it three wins on end on Saturday.

The gelding romped to a 3.5 length victory at Morphettville in an 1800m BM82 event with jockey Barend Vorster controlling the race from outside the leader before bolting clear.

This win has likely earned a crack at a ratings based race over the Flemington Cup Carnival for the horse.

Since joining the Melbourne Cup winning trainer, Somerset Maugham has had six starts for for three wins and two placings.

“He is a very consistent horse that is making his way through his grades nicely,” O’Brien said following the latest win, which the horse’s second straight hit and run mission to Adelaide.

“This win should bump up his rating nicely and he probably deserves a crack at an undercard race through the Carnival.

“We will get him home and see how he is before picking out his next target.”
