POCKET ROCKET EXPLODES ON DEBUT

Pint-sized filly Shimonoseki would not be denied on debut as she exploded through the field for victory at Geelong on Friday.

The three-year-old daughter of Extreme Choice repaid her patient owners her first time out and trainer Danny O'Brien was impressed with the stunning debut over 1443m.

"It's an excellent result for owner-breeders Peter Anastasiou and Ken Biddick, as well as the Starblue Consultancy crew as they have been very patient with her," O'Brien said.

"She has always been small, but the owners allowed us to give her a long break when she wasn't ready yet and this win is a testament to that patience as she turned up today and wouldn't be denied. first time out."

Jockey Fred Kersley rode a calm race on the first starter as he allowed her to find her feet early before finding gaps on the inside as the field swing for home.

"She was travelling very well and each time a gap came she took it and then next thing she was bursting past them for the win. It was a nice performance and I would expect this would be well short of her best distance. She is a filly with promise," Kersley said.
