Perth mission for Miss Rose De Lago

The Railway Stakes, via the Myer Classic, is the likely plan for classy mare Miss Rose De Lago.

The Danny O’Brien-prepared five-year-old ran her rivals ragged in the Group 3 Nine West Ladies Day Vase (1600m) on Wednesday, making it three wins from three starts at Caulfield.

Miss Rose De Lago did her early racing in Western Australia before joining O’Brien’s stable in March and she’s continued to develop.

Kiwi jockey Opie Bosson went straight to the front with the mare, who set a strong tempo and the others couldn’t catch her, easily beating Into The Mist and Amarela.

O’Brien says Miss Rose De Lago is now likely to go to the Group 1 Myer Classic before heading back home for the Railway Stakes.

“She’s a really strong mile mare, possibly 2000m and she’s unbeaten at those distances since we’ve had her,” O’Brien said.

“She came from Perth ... and we’ve kept her lightly raced over the spring to possibly go back for the Railway.

“But the obvious race to run in before then is the Myer.

“She’s a lovely, big, solid mare who does everything right and puts herself on the speed - she’s pretty bombproof.”
