O'BRIEN LOOKS TO AUTUMN WITH GUN FILLY
Oaks glory wasn't meant to be for Getta Good Feeling, but her trainer Danny O'Brien has his sights set on a big Autumn with the class filly.
The daughter of So You Think was flushed out early and was in front with a furlong to go before she didn't see out the Oaks trip.
Ridden by Mark Zahra, Getta Good Feeling started as the $1.80 favourite for the 2500m classic. She settled in a midfield position and loomed up as a winning hope at the top of the straight, but she peaked on her run 200m from home, eventually finishing sixth, some six lengths off winner Strictly Business.
"Mark gave her a good ride, but in the end her stamina was found out late in the race," O'Brien said.
"I don't think anyone was beating Strictly Business they way she ran through the line, but we are proud of our filly as she was up for the fight when challenged, however we found out yesterday that her best trip is likely to be around 2000m.
"She has pulled up well this morning and she has had a great campaign winning two Group 2 wins and a Group 1 third. We can't wait to get her back for the Autumn as she is a high class filly."
