NEWCOMER FIRES ON STABLE DEBUT
Former Queensland galloper Balastier made a perfect debut for new trainer Danny O'Brien with a dominant win at Seymour on Friday.
Excellent placement by O'Brien saw his new charge strutting his stuff in an 1100m Class 1 Handicap and the one time winner made it his second win at career start six.
"It was a pleasing performance as he can be a horse that gets running a bit, but Tom Prebble got to know him in his trial the other day and he rode him perfectly today," O'Brien said.
Prebble settled the four-year-old just off the leader before taking over at the top of the straight and powering away.
"He was very strong late and had a bit on this field. I appreciate Danny involving me in the trial and giving me the responsibility of getting the job done on the horse," Prebble said post-race.
