King in Heaven with bold ride

A bold front running ride and his handy 3kg claim has seen apprentice Lachie King guide Absolute Heaven to victory at Sandown on Monday.

The daughter of Snippetson has had little luck in three runs back from a spell, and she didn't get it all her own way out in front on Monday but the four-year-old was able to dig deep score her second win at start 13.

"She is tough filly who loves making her luck and racing up on speed, so despite having to do a bit of work to get to the front early and then get mid-race pressure, her effort to hold on was excellent," trainer Danny O'Brien's assistant trainer Ben Gleeson said.

The win bought up a race-to-race double for King.

"Lachie made sure she was up on speed as she doesn't have a big turn of foot, and his effort to keep her going all the way to the line given she was under siege was very good."

Gleeson said he expected the half-sister to the yard's Group 1 winner Absolut Glam to progress to Saturday grade and maybe beyond.

"She has a lot of talent this filly and when she is ridden to give her her best chance she has not let us down," Gleeson said.
