JETT SMASH-ING TAKE OFF

Cox Plate winning trainer Danny O'Brien appears to have another nice horse in his barn as Jett Smash scored a classy win against the odds at Mornington on Sunday.

Recently purchased from New Zealand after a couple of trial wins, the three-year-old son of Brave Smash claimed his first victory at start two following a luckless debut where he went to the line untested at Sale.

There would no such hard luck stories this time as jockey Daniel Stackhouse positioned the gelding in clear air three-wide and he proved too good for his rivals in the 1200m event.

"It wasn't ideal for us to be stuck three-wide with no cover, but he relaxed well and traveled sweetly. He was impressive to be so gallant in the finish given the run I had given him. He is a horse that I feel has a good future ahead of him," Stackhouse said post-race.
