Impressive jump out sways Ollie

Damien Oliver had the option of riding Suavito in the P.B Lawrence Stakes but an impressive jumpout from Miss Rose De Lago swayed him to partner Danny O'Brien's mare in Saturday's Caulfield feature.

The champion jockey made the decision after watching Miss Rose De Lago match motors with Awesome Rock as he rode Suavito in the same heat at Flemington on July 29.

"They trialled against each other, I actually rode Suavito and I rode Miss Rose De Lago in her first trial, she trialled well her first trial and they trialled against each other in their second," he said.

"Miss Rose De Lago trialled very well and Suavito, she was worse than what she normally trials, well actually worse than she normally does, she can trial poorly, I had to go with Miss Rose De Lago from the trials.

"That is not to say Suavito won't come out and run well, she has done it in the past I just chose to go with Miss Rose De Lago."

Mahuta has opened favourite at $4.40 with CrownBet for Saturday's P.B Lawrence Stakes on the back of his eye-catching third behind Lord Of The Sky ($5) in the Bletchingly Stakes.

Suavito is on the third line of betting at $5.50 while Miss Rose De Lago is considered a $7.50 chance at this early stage of betting.

Miss Rose De Lago won the Group 2 Sunline Stakes at Moonee Valley earlier this year and was turned out after finishing ninth behind Azkadellia in the Queen Of The Turf Stakes in Sydney.

It will be only the second time Oliver has ridden Miss Rose De Lago after he partnered her when she finished fourth in the Matron Stakes as an easing favourite at Flemington in March.

"She is quite forward, she is a mare that likes to be up on speed and the race will be strongly run with The Cleaner and Lord Of The Sky in it, she is ready to run well," he said.
