Frenetica fires at Sandown

Trainer Danny O'Brien and jockey Dwayne Dunn predicted a bright future ahead for Ferocity filly Frenetica after she made it back to back wins at Sandown yesterday.

The filly, an $80,000 purchase for O'Brien at the 2009 Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale, was sent out one of the popular elects after an impressive maiden win about five weeks ago at Ballarat.

Dunn allowed Frenetica to cruise along outside the leader for much of the race before striking the front at the top of the straight.

Despite getting a little "lost" the filly found plenty over the concluding stages to hold out Elsewhere and Crafty Lady.

The win a satisfying one for O'Brien, who trained Frenetica's sire Ferocity during his short, but successful racing career.

"I bought this filly from the Magic Millions (Yearling Sale)," O'Brien pointed out. "She was from the first crop (of Ferocity)."

"She's going well and hopefully they (the Ferocity stock) will make an impact."

"She got a little bit tired late - but she hadn't raced for six weeks and she had to take off early."

"I'm sure she'll improve from it and she's got a good future."

"She is still learning her crafts - going through the grades so I'd say she will push on now between now and Christmas - try and get a bit more confidence and give us something to work with in autumn."

Renowned big race rider Dwayne Dunn, like O'Brien, was impressed with the victory and suggested bigger and better things were in store.

"She got a little bit lost getting to the front so early," Dunn said. "But she was always going to win."

"She's got a lot to learn. She's doing it all on raw ability at the moment."

"I said to the owners it would probably not be until her next preparation that you see the best of her."

Frenetica is from the 100% winner producer All Legs - a Jade Robbery half-sister to stakes gallopers Given, Amazing One and Simplest.

The latest yearling from All Legs, a full sister to Frenetica, is being prepared by Oaklands Stud for January's 2011 Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale.

The bay filly is an athletic, running style filly who is of a similar mould as Frenetica was at the same stage.
