DARTING CHAMP GETS THE JOB DONE
Three-year-old filly Grinzinger Champ showed her determination when she took a darting run back to the inside to score her maiden victory at Kilmore on Monday.
Jockey Billy Egan was full of praise of the daughter of ill-fated champion stallion Wootton Bassett.
"It's only her third start in a race, but for her to dive into the gap on the inside and run away with the race is a credit to her," Egan said.
"She travelled super throughout and I really liked her turn of foot late which secured her the win."
Owner John Wheeler's filly is well-bred as her granddam is dual Group 1 winner and Melbourne Cup and AJC Oaks runner-up Champagne.
