CHIEF STANDS TALL

Melbourne Cup winning trainer Danny O'Brien produced his second impressive two-year-old winner in a week, when Our Chief careered away to victory at Geelong on Friday.

The week started with Mongolian Gobi streeting his rivals on debut at Sale last Sunday by four lengths, and today Our Chief repeated the dose with a near four-length win.

The son of Tagaloa put the writing in the wall with an encouraging  debut second behind the highly-touted Signature Scent at Bendigo on June 14, and the month between runs and step up to 1400m saw Our Chief excel.

Jockey Craig Williams was thrilled with his performance.

"He was perfect. Great attitude, great action and I got stuck into him late to keep him switched on as he didn't have the competition to spur him on as he was out in front by himself," Williams said.

"He has a lot of scope and substance, and I think he will be a horse of the future."

Our Chief was a $70,000 purchase from Yulong Stud's Inglis Premier Draft and today's win netted his owners $37,250 in cash thanks to Super Vobis bonuses plus a further $30,000 in Vobis Sales Vouchers.
