CARNIVAL GLORY ELUDES FARHH FLUNG AGAIN
A thrilling head bobbing finish has seen Melbourne Cup week glory elude Farhh Flung again.
The son of Farhh has finished fourth and second on Stakes Day at the past two carnivals over a mile, and was beaten by the barest of margins at Flemington on Thursday over 1800m.
"He deserved a win in Cup week as he has been an ultra-consistent horse and his effort today was outstanding. He was in front before the line and again after it, so he has been stiff to go down," trainer Danny O'Brien said post-race.
Jockey Craig Williams wasn't able to slot into the running line from the wide gate, forcing the seven-year-old to race three-wide without cover.
"He was so unlucky, any cover at all during the run and he wins. It's as simple as that," Williams said post race.
"He is in terrific form and gave his all it's just disappointing that his head wasn't down on the line."
The son of Farhh has six wins and 15 placings from his 39 starts and more than $587,000 in prizemoney.
