BACK TO BACK WINS FOR SCIPIO

Hot favourite Scipio made it back-to-back victories to start his summer campaign as he proved too classy for his rivals at Werribee on Sunday over 1100m.

The son of All Too Hard, and half-brothers to super sire Savabeel, was sent out odds-on and he gave the punters no stress after positioning just behidn the speed  before powering away for a strong win for jockey Damian Lane.

"We lobbed into a lovely spot and he was never going to lose this race," Lane said.

"He has come back in terrific order this prepration and he gave me the feel today like he could go on with it."

Trainer Danny O'Brien said he was pleased with the performance and that the penny may have finally dropped for the well-bred gelding.

"He has been a slow-burn, but he has done everything right to start this campaign so I will look to give him a chance down the Flemington straight next start at the Rapid Racing meeting (Feb 9)," O'Brien said.
