ANGEL FINALLY GETS THE LUCK

Wollemia Angel finally broke through for her maiden victory at Bairnsdale on Monday.

The daughter of Harry Angel had seven placings to her name, but finally luck went her way as she succeeded in a thrilling head-bobbing finish.

Danny O'Brien's Racing Manager Jack Howard said he was relieved to get the result for prominent owner John Wheeler.

"I was concerned she was going to be unlucky again, but thankfully it went her way today," Howard said.

Howard also heaped praise on jockey Liam Riordan.

"It was an excellent ride and it looked like she would win clearly, but the leader kicked back strongly."

The three-year-old has a date booked with Newmarket Handicap winner Shamexpress this breeding season so the win was timely.

"She is not due to leave just yet, so maybe this gives her the confidence she needs and she could head to stud on the back of successive wins," Howard said.
