UNBEATEN COLT POWERS TO SIRES WIN

The connections of unbeaten two-year-old Let'srollthedice are planning to do just that with the colt eyeing off two stallion-making Group 1 races in Sydney after a strong victory at G2 level at Flemington on Saturday.

The $300,000 VRC Sires' Produce Stakes win by the son of Dundeel has him well placed to tackle the $1 million ATC Sires' Produce Stakes at Randwick on April 2 and the $500,000 Champagne Stakes (1600m) at the same track two weeks later.

Trainer Danny O'Brien said considering his victory on Saturday and his effortless Heavy-track win at Bendigo on debut, the Sydney riches appeal as long as the horse emerges from the race in good order.

"He's now a Group 2-winning colt but he did handle the Heavy (10) the other day, so it would be tempting enough to look at the Sires' or the Champagne there in Sydney," he said.

Punters did not miss the colt, sending him out the $3.70 favourite, and he showed plenty of courage to hold Man In The Mirror by three-quarters of a length, with bolter Yaki Ishi close up in third place.

"He always was a lovely yearling," O'Brien continued. "Thanks to John Foote for selecting a really nice colt for us and a lot of the owners are around Geelong.

"He came through our system and obviously a Dundeel that we were never going to push. He had a trial or two in January and then went to Bendigo and did the job there. He's only going to improve."

O'Brien said jockey Damian Lane rode the horse perfectly as he has been doing for the stable for some time now.

"He was in a good stalking position, three wide cover with the opportunity to come into the race and no one is riding better than Damian at the moment," he said.

"He just seems to be timing everything beautifully. Seven or eight winners from his last 10 rides for us, so we're very happy with how things are going."
