TROUBLE NO DANGER FOR LADY

Favourite backers had their hearts in their mouths turning for home on Saturday in the first at Yarra Valley, with hot-pot Lady Shalaa cramped for room and looking in a hopeless position.

However jockey Liam Riordan was able to shoulder the filly into the clear and the daughter of Shalaa showed her immense talent with a blistering finish to score in the 1200m maiden event.

"It was looking hairy for a moment, but we just had to be patient and thankfully she had the ability to overcome the traffic and score the win," Riordan said post race.

"I was impressed by her effort as she really launched late and I think she has very good talent and can go on with it."

The three-year-old was in only her second race start, having finished a close second on debut at Yarra Valley earlier in the month.
