TOUGH FILLY HOLDS OFF ALL CHALLENGERS

Tenacious filly Immortal Star provided a great windfall for her owners with her gutsy win at Ballarat on Sunday.

The $30,000 purchase from the Inglis Premier Sale last year picked up $43,025 in cash yesterday thanks to prizemoney and  Super Vobis bonuses as well as a $30,000 sales voucher for her owners Superstar Racing.  And all at just her second race start.

The two-year-old was the second winner for first season sire I Am Immortal and after running a credible sixth in the Inglis Banner back on Cox Plate Day, the filly put the writing on the wall with a recent Flemington straight course jump out win.

"That was a really good performance," jockey Blake Shinn said post-race.

"You will find that this race will end up being a very strong form reference and I just loved how this filly wanted to dig deep and not let any of her rivals past. She has a bright future," he said.

Trainer Danny O'Brien has earmarked the listed Redoute's Choice Stakes at Caulfield over 1100m  for two-year-olds on Saturday, March 16 as the next run for the promising filly.
