Shauquin lumps 61.5kg to victory at Seymour

Shauquin proved too strong for his rivals and bounced back onto the winner's list on Thursday at Seymour despite carrying 61.5kg.

Sent out a $1.70 favourite in the BM58 1300m event, the Savabeel gelding jumped straight to the lead for jockey James Winks in the field of six and after some mid-race pressure the four-year-old cleared out from his rivals to record the win.

"It was a good to get back on the board as he has been a bit unlucky in his first two runs back from a spell," jockey James Winks said.

"Carrying the big weight on a rain affected ground and getting the job done was very good, and I expect he can go on with it thanks to this confidence builder."
