RIVETTING PERFORMANCE LANDS FINAL

Cordilla turned heads at Flemington on Saturday when a barnstorming performance from back in the field to land the Schweppes Rivette Series Final for three-year-old fillies over 1400m.

Trainer Danny O'Brien was thrilled with the performance of the filly that he bred and owns with Widden Stud, and who was sent out favourite with Damien Oliver in the saddle.

"Damien got off her two starts back at Sandown after she ran third and he said 'this is a pretty smart filly, I think she is stakes class' and she has now won her next two starts,, and she was very impressive today," O'Brien said post race.

O'Brien will look to get the filly to stakes grade in the future after such a dominant performance, but is unsure if that will be this preparation or after a break.

Cordilla has three wins from five career starts and the daughter of O'Brien's Cox Plate champion Shamus Award looks to have a big future not just on the track but also pist racing as she is a half-sister to stakes placed Eden Roc and her dam, Hilton Head is a half-sister to Group 1 placegetter and Group 2 winner Star Turn, who now stands at stud.
