RIORDAN CARBON COPY GETS RESULT

Jockey Liam Riordan produced a carbon copy of his winning ride on Friday at Horsham for trainer Danny O'Brien, when he was aboard Hampton Palace at Bairnsdale on Sunday for the Cox Plate winning trainer.

Both horse were drawn in outside barriers and Riordan sprung the machine and gunned both horse to the lead and controlled both races before clearing out for the victories.

"I knew I had a fit horse as he had been running well over 1400m but not quite finishing off this races, so dropping back to this grade over 1200m was a great piece of placement from Danny and I am just thrilled to get the win for the stable and the owners," Riordan said.

Hampton Palace had finished second three times over 1400m through January and February, but the sustained speed showed on Sunday shows it probaly won't be his last win.

Riordan had had a big few days having ridden for O'Brien at Horsham on Friday, Morphettville on Saturday and then Bairnsdale on Sunday.

"I am pleased to get a couple of wins for Danny as he has been giving me plenty of opportunities which is great," Riordan said post race ahead of four-hour drive home following the meeting.
