PERFECT PLACEMENT FOR PITCHANUN

Pitchanun bounced backed into winner's stall for the first time in 16 months with a strong victory over 1733m at Geelong on Friday.

This was her 12th start since her last victory, however 10 of those races had been on metropolitan tracks of which she had placed six times.

"She has always been racing well and around the mark in town, but we decided she just needs to get back to winning and building her confidence, so  today was a step in the right direction," trainer Danny O'Brien said.

At the top of the straight the race favourite looked in a precarious position as she was shuffled back and had no clear galloping room. Jockey Jye McNeil decided to restrain the five-year-old and come to the far outside before she let down strongly to claim her 0-64 opposition.

"She let down really well and was able to get me out of trouble. She has been very consistent throughout her career and it was good to get the result with her today," McNeil said post-race.

O'Brien said the daughter of Savabeel would now step out to 2000m at her next start as he aimed to build on her 23-3-7-3 career record.
