PATIENCE REWARDED WITH FIRST-UP VICTORY

Magance rewarded the patience of his connections and underlined his future potential as a stayer with an emphatic first-up victory at Werribee on Sunday.

The three-year-old son of Almanzor powered through the Heavy 9 conditions to score the 1.5 length victory over 1600m, which had jockey Billy Egan excited about his future racing.

"Plan A worked straight away, as we wanted to use our gate and tucked away behind the speed and that is how is panned out early," Egan said post racing.

"He was very good through the line as it hasn't taken much out of him, I think he is going to be a very nice stayer in the future based off today's performance."

This was start four for Magnace, who made it to the track as two-year-old in February last year, but the gelding showed he needed time to mature further and if today was anything to go by his owners are sure to have fun with him.
