O'BRIEN PRAISES SHINN

Danny O’Brien joined the chorus of trainers grateful for the return of champion jockey Blake Shinn after Davida lasted to win the Drummond Golf Handicap (1600m).

Shinn only returned from a broken leg at last Saturday’s Flemington meeting with a double before Davida’s gritty on-pace performance gave the rider his fourth win of the week.

Davida ($5) adopted her customary on-pace style in the Caulfield Heath contest before hanging on to narrowly beat Jenni Multabella ($4.60).

O’Brien said Shinn’s ability to get Davida out of the barriers cleanly was vital.

“It’s good to have him back. He made all the difference today,” O’Brien said.

“She’s not the easiest filly to get out of the machine and he did a great job of that.”
