O'BRIEN CONSIDERS CHANGE OF PLAN FOR VOW AND DECLARE

Danny O'Brien is considering sending G1 Melbourne Cup winner Vow And Declare (Declaration Of War {USA}) to the Listed Andrew Ramsden S. at Flemington next month.

The disrupted Brisbane carnival is off the agenda for the 4-year-old, and after his below-par ninth in the G1 Queen Elizabeth S. on Saturday, O'Brien is looking for another option.

“At the moment it’s very difficult because you can’t take any of your own people because of the (coronavirus) restrictions,” O’Brien told the Herald-Sun. “Until those restrictions are lifted, Queensland is unfortunately off the table.

“The Ramsden is on his favourite track, it’s weight-for-age so he would be well suited. We’ll get him home here and assess him before making a plan.”

The winner of the Andrew Ramsden is now exempt from the ballot for the Melbourne Cup, but Vow And Declare already holds that exemption from his win in the famous handicap last year.
