NICE ORDER ON DEBUT FOR FILLY

Well-named Cognac In Mine made a terrific winning debut at Werribee on Saturday.

The daughter of Shamus Award was sent out a short-priced favourite in the 1400m maiden and duly backed up the punter's confident with an emphatic all-the-way win.

Jockey Jake Noonan was confident post race that the three-year-old filly would get better as she steps out in trip as her career progresses.

"She flew the lids so we had no choice but to lead, but she handled that well and did an excellent job to win on debut," Noonan said.

"I feel that if she had something to chase she would have looked more impressive, but it was a good effort. There is definitely a good motor under the hood and she gives me the feel that 2000m will right up her alley in time."
