MUM'S THE WORD FOR SHALILY

In-foal mare Shalily showed her best form at Geelong on Saturday recording her second career win.

The daughter of Shalaa had a date with Widden Stud's Russian Camelot earlier this Spring, and returned to the races for the first time since with the victory in the 1300m 0-58 event.

Jockey Liam Riordan was full of praise for the five-year-old.

"She has returned in excellent order. Her trial leading into the race was encouraging and she has run accordingly today," Riordan said post race.

"I am not sure why it is, but many mares produce their best form when in foal and she was terrific today."

Shalily has now won twice and placed eight times from 19 career starts.

She is likely to have one or two more runs before retiring to the breeding barn.
