MAN SHOWS PLENTY OF HEART

Some victories are sweeter than others and for Danny O’Brien’s staff the win of Man Of Heart on Saturday at Kyneton was extra special.

The four-year-old gelding has been nursed through severe back pain, which included surgery on his spine, before claiming his maiden victory over 1850m.

Beautifully ridden by Josh Cartwright, the son of Reliable Man was camped midfield before producing a strong finish to score in the 1850m event despite laying in over the concluding stages.

“The staff have put a lot of work into this horse with massage, icing and physio to his back, so to get the result for the guys is satisfying,” O’Brien said.

O’Brien also praised Cartwright’s horsemanship.

“He is a quirky horse, as soon as he hit the front he wanted to lay in, so Josh did a great job to keep straight and continue his momentum.”
