Life's a beach for Sure You Can

Highly consistent mare Sure You Can proved a great advertisement for trainer Danny O'Brien's private 13th Beach training facility as she secured her second win of the season at Flemington on Saturday.

Trainer Danny O'Brien praised his 13th Beach staff following her tough 200m win.

"The staff at our 13th Beach facility have really got this mare into a great place mentally," O'Brien said.

"She is quite highly strung and she doesn't handle being at our Flemington stable, so she lives at the property and heads down to 13th Beach every few days to keep her happy.

"The quieter beach environment agrees with her. She has had 8 starts for the season and she hasn't finished further back than 4th.

"I think she will improve even further at five being a nice O'Reilly mare."

O'Brien also praised jockey James Winks for his ride.

"It was a 10 out of 10 from James, he had her travelling beautifully in sixth in the running line with the favourite inside him, and it allowed him to dictate the race," O'Brien said.

Winks peeled into the clear at the top of the straight before waiting to the 300m-mark to unleash the four-year-old mare's sprint.

O'Brien is now weighing up whether to send her for a spell or give her one more run for this preparation in a mares' stakes race in Adelaide on May 16.
