LATE MATURING BROTHER OF A GUN SCORES MAIDEN WIN

When you are the little brother of a gun racehorse and superstar stallion, expectations come with the territory.

For four-year-old gelding Scipio he has carried that burden through his early career, however thanks to a patient ownership group the son of All Too Hard might be ready to blossom.

Scipio was seen for the first time in 37 weeks on Friday at Cranbourne, and the half-brother of Savabeel proved too strong putting his maiden to bed at start seven.

Ridden by visiting Singapore ex-pat Daniel Moor, Scipio bounced onto the speed before proving too good in the closing stages of the race.

“It was a good honest win,” Moor said post race.

“The owners have been very patient with him and hopefully today gives him the confidence to go with it.”

Scipio has been placed three tones before the win, and Moor said he thinks the horse could measure up in town over the summer.
