LARIO FIGHTS ON

A drop back in distance and grade as well as returning to his favourite track was the recipe to see Lario score at Geelong on Wednesday.

The four-year-old gelding has been in good form with a close-up fourth over 1800m in BM70 grade at Sandown last start proving the form line to win in BM66 grade over 1700m today.

The win was also the son of Epaulette's third from four starts at Geelong.

Jockey Craig Williams rolled forward from the wide gate and pushed onto the lead after being trapped wide in the early stages.

"Given the work we did early, he had an excuse to get beaten today but he kept finding and held them all off in what was an excellent performance," Williams said post race.

"He is an honest horse that was able to secure the win with the drop back in grade today so it was an excellent piece of placement by the stable."
