IMPROVEMENT TO COME FROM DOMINANT PORTER

Porter put up a dominant performance at Ballarat on Monday, however jockey Billy Egan said he expects the horse to take much improvement from the win.

“Although he won by a margin, he still rolled down to the fence and was waiting for them inside the final 200m. When the penny drops he will be a nice horse,” Egan said post race.

The son of So You Think had been well supported and much to the delight of punters who had backed him into $2.40 for the 1400m maiden event, he scored his first win at start five.

Egan was able to settle the three-year-old in the one-out, one-back position in running before easing him into the clear as they swung for home and the imposing gelding put a space on his rivals.

Porter was a $250,000 purchase from the 2022 Inglis Premier Sale and the stable is confident he will be at his best when he steps out to 2000m in the future.
