HISTORY REPEATS FOR QUELLO

On July 27 last year Quello Dorato headed to the Ballarat Synthetic track over 1500m and won by 0.75 of a length. Twelve months later to the day, the striking chestnut repeated the dose exactly.

The son of Trapeze Artist had put the writing on the wall at his last start with a barnstorming finish at Pakenham, and on the back of an excellent ride he took the chocolates again on Monday.

After being slowly away, jockey Jake Noonan got on the back of the favourite,  who took the five-year-old into the race.

“We ended up following the right horse and he took me where we needed to go and when it was time he really sprinted home strongly for the win,” jockey Jake Noonan said.

Trainer Danny O’Brien has been on fire to finish the season as Quello Dorato was the stable’s third winner from three runners in three days.

Quello Dorato win was his third from 17 career starts, that has also included seven placings by the consistent half-brother of superstar Bella Nipotina.
