HELL OF A TRACK RECORD

Promising three-year-old filly Hellara is starting to live up to her early promise as she broke an 18-year-old track record with a scintillating victory at Echuca on New Year’s Eve.

The daughter of Hellbent showed plenty as an early two-year-old however she had filed to live up to expectations, until her two most recent starts which have both been victories.

Trainer Danny O’Brien said the talent had always been there despite her results.

“She did take eight starts to break her maiden, but to bounce from a maiden and win with such authority up in grade was excellent to see,” O’Brien said post race.

“It’s the first time she has had a perfect set-up in a race, by having cover not too far off the speed and her turn of foot to blow them away by four lengths was exciting.”

O’Brien is thinking of taking the in-form fully back to town with a race against her own sex and age down the Flemington straight on January 20 under consideration.
