FRESH WIN BUOYS CONNECTIONS

Around The Buoy showed he is in for a nice second campaign with a gutsy first-up win at Moe on Sunday.

The son of Savabeel had a desire to reel in the leaders which is a great sign as the 1600m event will be short of his best distance.

"It was a great performance as he wanted to win the race and the fact it was in a race that is at the lower end of his distance range is exciting," jockey Liam Riordan said post race.

"I can't wait to see what he can do at 2000m and beyond."

The gelding had four start in first racing campaign which saw him place third and fourth twice each.

"He has always been around the mark so with a bit more maturity on his side now he will hopefully repay the patience of his connections."
