ENGINE COMES TO LIFE

When you are a brother to high performing siblings, it’s hard not to have comparisons confronting you at every turn.

For Roaring Engine he has been faced with Group 1 winning full-sister Miami Bound and former stable favourite half-brother De Little Engine his entire career.

Then add to that a winning debut over 1400m, and the expectations externally end up inevitable.

However a throat operation before ever racing has had his owners and stable more subdued about it his future.

Having taken a patient approach connections are hoping it will pay dividends down the track. That first step was taken on Friday at Werribee over 2244m as Roaring Engine broke through for his second win at start 11.

“Given his pedigree and profile it was hard not to try him at a decent level early on, and at that time he probably wasn’t seasoned enough,” trainer Danny O’Brien said.

“But he has had the time to mature and although he may not be as talented as his siblings, he gives everything every time he steps out.

“The jury’s out to exactly what level he will reach, but his attitude and application will allow him to reach his full potential.”
