EARLY WIN FOR O'BRIEN ON HOME CUP DAY

King's Crossing provided local trainer Danny O'Brien the perfect start to Geelong Cup Day by taking out the first event on the program.

The son of Almanzor loves the Geelong circuit as it was his second win from four starts at the track and a year on from finishing a placing in the Geelong Classic.

Jockey Damian Lane was thrilled with his win and thinks there could more in store for the four-year-old.

"He was great. He always travelled well in running and I was mindful of not hitting the front too early of him like has happened in previous races here, and he did really well to sprint hard and get the job done," Lane said post race.

"He deserved that win and I am confident he will gain a lot of confidence from the result and go on with it."
