CHIC MIND GAMES

A preparation aimed at improving the manners of Cheval Chic is paying dividends with the mare notching back-to-back victories with her win at Geelong on Wednesday.

The well-bred daughter of Written Tycoon was her own worst enemy earlier in her career with her race day antics.

“She was a really hot filly on raceday and was running her races before she got out on the track,” trainer Danny O’Brien said.

“This whole prep has been about getting her to relax and have enjoyable experiences at the races.

“Once she realises being at the races is not that scary, she will get to a reasonable level as the talent is there.”

O’Brien said he was reticent to push the four-year-old mare too quickly.

“I think it would be best given her history to keep building a profile and her confidence  before throwing her in the deep end.”
