New Zealander Basarwa broke through for his first Australian win and in the process gave on fire jockey Jye McNeil a four-timer at Pakenham on Thursday night.

The Melbourne Cup winning hoop was unstoppable and he gave the son of Atlante the perfect ride to score in the 1600m BM64 event.

It was the four-year-old's sixth start in Australia, but first at a non-metropolitan meeting and the drop back in class by trainer Danny O'Brien did the trick.

McNeil believes tonight's win will give Basarwa confidence and expects that you will see Basarwa performing well back in town shortly.
